FAQ
What is Share?
SHARE INVEST INC. ("Share") is a mobile app designed to make investing simpler. On Share, you invest by creating bundles of assets (stocks and ETFs) called strategies and investing in all of the assets in equal amounts on a set schedule. Together, this is called dollar cost averaging and equal weighting. Strategies can be managed alone, or as a group by voting (more on this below).
How is Share different from other trading apps?
Share is unique in a couple of important ways.

First, all investments on Share are recurring and use dollar cost averaging. We built Share because we wanted an easier way to pick stocks and invest over time without having to be glued to our phones watching the market every day.

Second, Share allows you to form groups and pick assets together by voting.
Is this safe? Why should I trust you with my money?
Brokerage services are provided by Alpaca Securities LLC ("Alpaca"), member FINRA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AlpacaDB, Inc. Clearing services are provided by Velox Clearing LLC (Velox) and Vision Financial Markets LLC (Vision). All three are members of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC), which protects securities customers of its members up to $500,000 (including $250,000 for claims for cash) per customer. Explanatory brochure available upon request or at www.sipc.org.

Share and Alpaca are not affiliated and neither are responsible for the liabilities of the other.
What if I want to leave a strategy?
You can pause your investment in a strategy at any time. You can also leave a strategy in your settings, and sell all the investments or take them with you and manage them yourself.
Is investing in strategies safer than investing alone?
No. All investments involve risk and the past performance of a security or financial product does not guarantee future results or returns. Keep in mind that while diversification may help spread risk it does not assure a profit, or protect against loss. There is always the potential of losing money when you invest in securities or other financial products. The price of a security or other financial product may increase or decrease based on market conditions and customers may lose money, including their original investment. Investors should consider their investment objectives and risks carefully before investing.
Can I join multiple strategies?
Yes! You can join, or create, as many strategies as you like.
How does voting work?
Each asset in a strategy has a rating of Buy, Hold, or Sell. Ratings are chosen by the strategy members through a vote - at least 50% of the members must vote in favor of a rating for it to be adopted.

Assets with a Buy rating are automatically purchased each week and added to your portfolio. Your investment will be directed based on the member vote regardless of how you individually voted on a specific asset. This means you may end up buying assets that you voted against.
How much money goes to each asset in a strategy?
When you join or create a strategy, you decide how much you want to invest each week. It can be as little as $5. Each Monday, Share will automatically divide your weekly investment equally (to within 1 cent) among all the assets in your strategy.
How about selling?
Just like buying, selling in a group strategy happens through a vote. Any member can propose to change an asset rating to Sell and if a majority votes Yes it will be adopted. An asset rated Sell will be sold on the next Monday. A position in the same asset in any other strategies will not be affected
Do members in a strategy share ownership?
No, all assets purchased through a strategy are part of your individual account and owned by you. You can sell them at anytime by leaving the strategy.
